Out Of Office Notification

without comments

Dear Mailer,

I will be out of office on my annual Florida trip.  I may or may not return considering the east coast of the United States is still locked in an ice age.  In the mean time, I will not be posting as often.  However, I should have a fresh batch of Florida pics upon my return.  If you require my immediate attention, please don’t call, write, or any other form of communication because I’ll be very busy on the beach sunning myself :)  In the meantime please enjoy this long exposure of Philly and Schuylkill River.

Best Regards,

Chris

Philadelphia Without Us

without comments

For those of you who know Philly, you know that this section of Interstate 76 that runs through the city is never without cars.  It’s a highway that never shuts down and is a vital artery into the city.   I was a workshop this morning in city center and arrived a little early and walked to the Spring Garden overpass to play with my new Lee Big Stopper filter.  This was about a 2 minute exposure just after sunrise which allowed for the passing cars to “disappear” giving an overall sinister look.  However, if you look closely, you can see some light trails from cars.

Ghost In The Machine

Street Photography

I’m a fan of street photography, although I don’t shoot a lot of the style myself.  To be a street photographer takes a lot of guts in my opinion.  In my few attempts, most folks don’t like their picture to be taken by random people and sometimes can be flat out rude.  So hats off to you few and brave street photographers of the world.

Ghost In The Machine

Street photography is one of those fickel things when you wait a long time for what Henri Cartier-Bresson calls the Decisive Moment.  In this case, the decisive moment was for a guy to walk right into my photo during a long exposure.  This shot is not typical street photography where people document their environment in photos; however, I think this photo works.   The streaking person adds an odd element to an otherwise mundane photo of a door at One Penn Center in the heart of Philly next door to the Comcast building.

The Ghost of Benjamin Franklin

This photo was taken by accident at the Franklin Institute in Philly.  The effect turned out nice so I decided to share.

Building Unkown

Help Philly friends.  I took this shot in the historic district, but cannot remember which building this is.  If you know, please leave a comment.
