Ricketts Glen

Hyey Boo Boo, let’s go get us a pic-a-nic basket

I didn’t see any bears camping this past weekend, but here is a black bear I caught awhile ago while visiting Ricketts Glenn State Park in PA.

Milkweed

Milkweed, prettier than the name implies.  I’m not one to take photos of plants but this one struck me as something unique.  I was able to capture the Bee and provide plenty of bohka.  Seeing all the milkweed and wild blueberries made the hike to the top of the mountain well worth it where I took this photo.

Waterfalls of Ricketts Glen State Park

without comments

The Waterfalls of Ricketts Glen State Park in Pennsylvania has to be one the most beautiful places on the planet. Located between two mountain ranges the park has 22 named waterfalls. The Falls Trail boasts a series of natural waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn clefts in an ancient hillside. The tallest is the 94-foot Ganoga Falls. Old growth timber and diverse wildlife add to the scenic area along the trail. I took this photo while standing in the middle of the stream; it was a very wet day traversing the falls and my tripod is still drying out.

Star Light, Star Bright

“Hitch your wagon to a star.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

My family and I were able to visit Ricketts Glen, PA this past weekend with friends. There was very little ambient light and I saw the Milky Way for the first time in my life. With the weather warm around midnight, I pointed my camera at the North Star and kept the shutter open for 10 minutes capturing this unique image.
