To HDR, or Not to HDR?

without comments

This is the question that preoccupies me.  I took this photo while visiting Indianapolis back in April of this year.  Indy is a great midwest town, when you get a chance you should checkout my travel guide about visiting Indy.  I took this photo near the State capitol building using the standard bracketing method to later process as an HDR photo.  I have to say, I’m pleased with this photo overall, however, I think I’m done with experimenting with HDR.  Why?  Very few photographers, including myself, can get HDR right; excluding photog’s such as Trey Ratcliff.  Most HDR photos look overdone and tend to appear more technical than artistic in my opinion; it’s just a hard format to work with.  What are your thoughts?  Do you shoot HDR, and do you have any tips for me?  Let me know.

Dancing Muses

“So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.” – T. S. Eliot

Indianapolis is not just another midwest city in the US.  A small town located in the plains, downtown Indianapolis boast several pieces of great outdoor art.  I took this photo of  the Depew Fountain depicting children playing in the water among frogs and fish, and a toga-wrapped woman on the top tier, while visting Indianapolis, Indiana.  A graceful, happy piece of art, the fountain was gifted to the city in 1919.  The fountain is easily accessible in  a very walkable downtown; it is also near monument circle which is a must see Indianapolis landmark.

Indianapolis Sunrise

Well it’s my final day in Indy, and I’m excited to get back home to Philly to see my family. Indianapolis is great town that is very walkable. Today’s photo is from the 21st floor of the hotel I have been staying of the sun rising behind downtown.

Street Artist

Hi everyone from Indianapolis again. Indy is home to the Indy 500, one of the premier road races in the world. The city comes alive in anticipation of the event as I found out on my first night in Indy. I stumbled upon a free outdoor concert feature Gavin Degraw and this local artist Jon McLaughlin. Great live music and I recommend you check him out on iTunes, Spotify, or your weapon of choice.

Indianapolis From Above

Hi everyone from atop Indianapolis, Indiana. I’m travel to the heartland of the USA and had a chance to go to the top of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial in the center of Indianapolis where I was able to see some great views of the city.
